Pripyat Sanatorium Solnechny

This the Pripyat Sanatorium Solnechny. It is situated on the outskirts of the city, in a park north of the city center. Pripyat sanatorium was a clinic for the treatment of chronic diseases and supervised recuperation was carried out.
The name of the sanatorium is Solnechny, or Sunny, translated in English. The wards had its own balconies, the patients could enjoy fresh air and sunlight to get better. The patients had a view at Yanovsky Zaton, the artificial lake specially created for the needs of Pripyat.
The sanatorium closed in 1986 following the Chernobyl disaster and is mostly empty today.
